Candle Holder

I found this piece at Big Lots for 5.99. It was where their gardening items were. I thought it was a candle holder. But, IT's not. It has a small hole on the top. So, I purchased a wooden circle at Michael's and glued that bad boy on top. Then I painted with my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I used Provence, Paris Gray, and some Old White. I then waxed it and applied a dark wax as well. Now, I just need to find a home for my new Candle holder and a candle! :)

Princess Tiana and Princess Jasmine

(THIS WAS TAKEN WITH MY CELL PHONE-NOT THE BEST QUALITY)

TRISTAN AND I VISITED MY FRIEND,KELLY AND HER DAUGHTER, KATE THIS WEEK. ON THE WAY TO THIER HOUSE, I ASKED TRISTAN 'WHAT SHE AND KATE WERE GOING TO DO TOGETHER?' SHE TOLD ME THEY WERE GOING TO PLAY DRESS UP. TRISTAN REMEMBERED FROM THE LAST TIME SHE PLAYED AT KATE'S HOUSE THAT KATE HAS TONS OF DRESS UP CLOTHES. TRISTAN REALLY ENJOYS THE PRINCESS COSTUMES BECAUSE AT HOME... SHE'S USE TO DRESSING UP LIKE THE HULK OR BATMAN. HA!

Painted Bulletin Board

I FOUND THIS BULLETIN BOARD AT HOBBY LOBBY FOR 4.99 AND PAINTED THE "CHEVRON" PATTERN I'VE BEEN SEEING AROUND THE BLOG WORLD. COOPER WANTED A PLACE TO DISPLAY SOME OF HIS ART WORK AND OTHER THINGS. I NEED TO FIX SOME SPOTS WHERE THE PAINT SOMEHOW GOT UNDER THE PAINTERS TAPE. BUT, ALL IN ALL A CHEAP AND EASY PROJECT.  THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER WAYS TO DRESS UP A BULLETIN BOARD. MY MOTHER IN LAW MADE ONE FOR TRISTAN AND SHE USED A REALLY CUTE FABRIC AND SHE HAD IT FRAMED IN AN OLD FRAME THAT GOES GREAT IN HER ROOM

First Day of School

We had our first day of school yesterday. Tristan started in the Teddy Bear Room and Cooper started his class in the 5-k Program. Cooper is a May Birthday and we have decided to hold him back a year:). He has a lot of buddies from last year, who are also in his classroom.  Cooper couldn't wait to start back to school.  Tristan has a handful of friends in her room, that were in the Owl Room with her last year.  ALL BOYS! She is one of three girls in her class. She will fit right in with all those boys. God love her, that is all she knows in this house.

Tristan is sooo excited!

I took a picture of the kids holding this "First Day of School Sign". I thought it would be a cute idea to do this every year on their first day of school. How fun will it be to look back and see how much they have grown over the years?

Bye, Bye, Summer Time

This is Cooper and Ava. Cooper's "GIRLFRIEND" this summer. They are so cute together. Although, Addie Kate would be heartbroken. I did mention this to Cooper once, and his response was, "well I can have two girlfriends... because I really like Addie Kate and I really like Ava". I thought to myself, yea enjoy it now while you are young, because girls will not like that when you get into high school! HA! Ava and Cooper were inseparable at the pool all summer! As soon as we would drive in to the parking lot, Cooper would say, Is my girlfriend going to be here? Ava is the youngest of 6 kids! Wow, I don't know how her mom does it. I will say that poor little Tristan got left out when Ava was around. Cooper would pay her no attention. Not really on purpose, he was just having too much fun with his girlfriend. I would watch Tristan swim across the pool to where Cooper and Ava were. Then I would watch Cooper and Ava swim and go move on playing somewhere else. Then Tristan would just be floating in the water all by herself, after she worked so hard swimming to her brother. It broke my heart. She has been use to having Cooper to play with.

So long to our sweet days at the pool. Our summer is officially over tomorrow , because the kids start back to school! I know I say this every summer, but could summer have lasted just a little bit longer? Summer is my favorite season of the year. I especially love it now that I can enjoy watching the kids play and not having a strict schedule.

Thing 1 and Thing 2

This is a canvas that my son and his good friend painted last week. Cooper is "Thing 1" on HIS canvas and Nicholas is "Thing 1" on HIS canvas. Because of course they both wanted to be Thing 1! This is very very fitting for the two of those little boys.  For the hair: I painted their fingers and around the palm of their hand, Light Blue.
For the Face: I painted the palm of their hand a peach color.
Then I filled in the eyes, nose, and mouth with permanent marker. I painted a circle with white paint for the shirt and wrote again, with permanent marker Thing 1 and Thing 2. Then, I drew the outline of the shirt in the marker as well.
My new classroom this year is the Cat Room. For Dr. Seuss's Cat and the Hat theme.  Maybe Ms. Charlotte and I can incorporate this project into something we do during the year.

Sewing Table Revamp

I have had my Mama Jean's Sewing table upstairs in my hallway for some time now. It really needed to be repainted. I have been using Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint on most of my furniture lately. It's so easy and looks amazing once painted. I used Annie Sloan Old White and distressed a little. Then applied the clear wax. On the inside I painted it with the Paris Gray. I applied the clear wax and then a dark wax.

BEFORE

The lamp is from the Chalk Paint Class I painted a few weeks ago. I "borrowed" Cooper's shade, just to take the picture. I still have to find a lamp shade and haven't had any luck looking.
AFTER

This is a candle vase from the dollar store, a candle I've had in closet, and I glued some burlap around the clear vase. Then I made a flower to add on the burlap! So adorable.

House Rules

My friend Katie made this "Family Rules" sign that she has hanging in her kitchen. I posted this on my blog a few months back and I have been wanting to do this project for a while, but knew it would be very time consuming. I finally got to it, and this project is time consuming! Katie got this idea from The Pleated Poppy. She gives you step by step instructions on how to do this. I didn't really follow that, but it is a good go-to if you wanted to know how to do this project. Katie used a canvas for her "Family Rules" sign. I used a piece of 2x4 wood. I'm pretty sure her canvas was a touch bigger than mine. I added a few other rules to mine and wanted my sign to say "House Rules". I love the "Family Rules", but for some reason my mind goes to that movie called, "Cider House Rules". And I just envisioned mine saying HOUSE RULES. I loved how it turned out, although when I applied Modge Podge, I had to majorly work through some bubbles in the paper. Just FYI. It's now hanging in my kitchen and looks adorable with all my turquoise. And I really wish I had more room, there were several rules that I wanted to use!!!

Baby Suzanna's Shower

This is the Mommy to be and her son, and soon to be big brother, Owen. This was the invitation to the baby shower for Stephanie and her little baby girl Suzanna Jane Stubbs. They are using both of their mother's names.

They had a baby shower game to play. The host past out baby bottles filled with juice. The first to finish the bottle, of course, wins. I sat that out...but, It did look hard. Those little babies work hard to get their milk! Stephanie said Owen had seen this at a baby shower before and didn't get to play. So, this time he didn't leave disappointed.

You can tell Cooper was not too KEEN on the baby bottle game!

Tristan was being a little helper to my friend Stephanie while she was opening gifts. She remembered what gift we brought and wanted Stephanie to open that one!

We bought Suzanna her first smocked swimsuit!
