A Special Treat

My sweet sweet friend,Patty Brown, treated me and Tristan to a manicure and pedicure. I bring her son Nicholas home with us one day a week to help her out. We would have Nic over anyway, so it's really not a big deal and it actually helps me! Patty went over and beyond the call of duty! I was so excited about this, Tristan and I went the very next day! So sad! I do remember a time in my life that I got mani pedis every two weeks...kiss those days goodbye! Tristan was equally stoked because she got to sit in the butterfly chair. She picked out her color. Which, was called, Hot Hot Hot in the City. Ha! How appropriate? She was amazing. She sat in that chair the entire time and didn't move. She's a pro at this by now. She has been with me once and my Mom has taken her maybe twice now. She knew exactly what to do and was telling me what to do! In fact, when we were leaving she told me I needed to pay again! Which, I'm assuming she has observed us giving tips. I reminded her that Patty had already taken care of that and we just needed to leave a tip:)

The Nell Dress

My friend, Lauren and I, worked on "the Nell Dress" last week...It is an adorable dress, but these patterns say, "Dress"-I think they mean tunic! Lauren's turned out like I wanted mine to look! Her's is much better. The neck of the dress was the cutest part. But, for some reason my sleeves aren't  big enough. Lauren did add lace to her sleeves, which was an option in the pattern, and I believe it gives the sleeves more of the look I was going for. I have already cut this pattern for a size 4 in a different fabric. Hopefully I can finish the second one this weekend and I'm going to add some lace. We will see what happens and if sewing a size larger will make it more of a dress.
My handsome little man had his picture day today. He won't be 5 for much longer:(

The kids headed to Trussville...Then Back!

This weekend was a busy weekend. We had two birthday parties (I thought I had 3, turns out that one is this week) and Cooper had a ballgame during Kate's birthday party. I knew Tristan would love some girl time and we try to take advantage every chance we can. I asked my friend Samantha to watch Tristan at the party so I could go to Cooper's game. Samantha and I were pregnant together both pregnancies. I had Cooper and three months later Samantha had Drake. Then with our second pregnancies, Samantha had Keaton and three months later I had Tristan. We don't get to see them enough because they are in Trussville and it's just hard to when you have kids and you get busy with your everyday life. So, when our kids do get together, they just eat it up! They love being together. After Cooper's game I headed to pick up Tristan from the birthday party. Samantha had already asked Tristan if she wanted to come with "Mantha" and spin the night.  Of course, Tristan did, and so did Cooper. I told Samantha, "Tristan may be telling you this. But, come bedtime, she will be crying for her Mommy." She does this at my Mom's house too. It's all gravy until bedtime. Samantha said, she will be fine. I will be in touch she said. Cooper and Tristan played hard from the time they left me. They drove to Trussville to watch Drake's game and then headed over to one of Samantha's friends house with several other kids with siblings, etc, etc. I checked on Tristan a couple of times and Samantha finally sent me this video...
I'm going ok, but just really waiting on the phone call. And as I predicted it did come. Samantha said, "well listen to why she said she wanted Mommy. I gave Tristan and Keaton a bottled water and Keaton didn't want a water she wanted juice. Keaton got real smart with me and I raised my voice and said, enough! You can have water or you will have nothing!" Samantha said that is when Tristan lost it, and said, I want my Momma! I started dying laughing. Of course. She saw a side of Samantha she had never seen before. Tristan realized Samantha wasn't always sweet Samantha! She felt horrible and said, I wasn't even getting on to her. I thought yep, Miss Hannigan has come out!

Go Cardinals!

Cooper played a game this weekend. On the way to the ballpark, Cooper told me, "he didn't like to hit from the T". I said well, "Why?" Cooper replied, "because I can't hit the ball out of the park! I wish my Coach would just pitch it to me!"
Which, of course I thought it was hysterical! Then I started doubting my choice of letting him play T-ball another year because we switched school systems. He's been playing ball at Oak Mountain Ball Park since he was three going on four. So, Cooper had actually been playing Coach pitch and has started t-ball again this year.  Because we decided to let Cooper do kindergarten at the Church this year I wanted him to play ball with his future classmates. I also wanted the coaches of the league he will be in,  to know Cooper.  Anyhoo, I know it will all work out. Eventually, some of the classmates that are playing above him will repeat a league and they will all be together again.
On a positive note...I do LOVE LOVE Cooper's coach. He is really working with these boys and I can honestly say it was NOT a year wasted!!!! I can not begin to tell you the things he has learned in one season. And because he's one of the oldest, he is playing first base pretty much every game. He told the coach he wanted to be the pitcher one game and Coach Lee said ok:). So, being one of the oldest players on his team has allowed him to gain a lot more confidence in his game.

Grocery Store with Kids

We had to go to Walmart for groceries!! I haven't been in two weeks. I have been dreading this trip, but 2 hours later we are leaving and the kids are happy for once. Usually, they have worn me out asking for a million things and the kids are whiney. But, I had a major migraine and the kids actually did very well. Sometimes, if it's not one it's the other. So, all in all... Mission Walmart=Successful. So sad. Joys of motherhood!

Chalkboard

I found this idea on pinterest. Imagine that! The idea came from projectdenneier.com. I painted the wood with chalkboard spray paint and the hubby hung it for me. My friend Lauren and her husband built their little girls a playhouse for Christmas. Inside there is a cute little chalkboard that is framed. We totally need a frame around ours. It would really make it pop. I am doing it, just need to make a decision about what color to make the frame??? For now...my kids are enjoying their new chalkboard.

Kindergarten

Someone from the Elementary School put a beach ball on our mailbox yesterday for Cooper. It had a sweet note attached that was welcoming him to big school! I registered him a few weeks back. My friend, Jami, is a kindergarten teacher at the school and she was so kind to show me the kindergarten hall. I did not have Cooper with me and was just registering him for goodness sakes. But, I got this overwhelming feeling come over me and I just started crying. It was like this is it...here we are starting kindergarten! You would think it would be a bit easier since he is getting an extra year at home. Nope! Guess not! I had to get myself together and Jami, you probably didn't know what to think or say to me;) Anyhoo, it will be here before you know it!

Gracie Pattern

Tristan wore her Elephant dress/ tunic to school today. Another Mommy creation! This pattern drove me batty! The collar part was just hard, I could not figure it out! I had to ask my friend Lauren for help! The pattern already had a misprint and I knew the correction...Lauren told me once you start, it will just make sense! Love you dearly Lauren, but that didn't make sense to me who is still such a newbie;).  I took it to Lauren and she made it look so easy and it made perfect sense! Go figure! One day I will be hopefully almost as good as she is. It's finally complete and I am obsessed with the elephant print fabric!

Happy Easter

I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
Bible, John

Cooper and Tristan are saying, "sun is in my eyes!!!!"

Again the Easter season's here
Bringing with it too
Happy thoughts of those who mean
So much the whole year through.
And this comes to wish you all the joy
That Easter ever brought
And then to let you know again
You're very close in thought.
Happy Easter to all loved ones!

Kids Easter Egg Hunt

After Cooper's ball game today (Go Cardinals!) we went to a sip n see for my friend Lana. We actually arrived when it was over and the kids enjoyed playing with each other while a visited with Lana and Baby Charlotte. Then Celeste decided to have an Easter egg hunt for the kids. They had fun. It was last minute and thrown together. Cooper asked why there wasn't any candy in any of the eggs? Ha! Lordy, can we say, we are spoiled?!

Fun With Wine Corks

My Mom's sweet, Teri, gave me this old cabinet door that she had put wine corks in. Love it! I repainted the color and I'm going to add some of mine and Blake's Wine Corks we saved from When we first got married until now, some are even still dated! So cute! Thanks Teri;)
